Acid attack: One of the victims may lose eye sight, say doctors

New Delhi: A 23-year-old teacher may lose her eyesight after an acid attack in Shamli in Uttar Pradesh. Doctors at Delhi's Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, where the teacher has been brought for treatment, said that the maximum injury has been caused to her eyes as the acid was not washed properly and immediately.

The woman's s left eye cornea has been severely damaged even as the doctors performed one surgery. This happened when she, along with her three sisters, was attacked by two unidentified bike-borne men.

The doctors said that that they will be able to save only one eye and she may have to undergo a plastic surgery. The sisters, all teachers in the Shamli district of UP were returning home from work when the incident occured. Three days on, no arrests have been made so far.
