KOCHI: The first phase of the Startup Village at Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA) Park, Kalamassery, the country’s first telecom business incubator on public-private partnership, is geared up for inauguration on April 1. “Of the 15,000 sq ft, 5,000 sq ft will be opened. The administrative block and training facility with a 50-seater mini conference hall, where ‘hackathorn’, blogging and other events have been chalked out, will be opened on April 1. The Blackberry Innovation Zone partnered by RIM India and space for companies will be opened on April 4,” said Sijo George, CEO, Startup Village.Two companies have been filtered from the 15 applications - Wowmakers and Mindhelix, both by student entrepreneurs for setting start-ups.“We are happy to be the first start-up in the Village. We focus on mobile application, our USP being design which includes logo branding and animated explanation,” said Vivek Raghavan, one of the four founders of Wowmakers. All the five are graduates from the College of Engineering, Thrikkarippur, Kasargod. ‘Super small, Super talent’ is their watchword. Kalidasan of Mindhelix Technology is also happy to be the first. “That the village offers funding is a great encouragement. They plan to raise `100 crore which they plan to invest. We intend to find solutions in mobile applications and m-governance. We developed the  ‘tuktukmeter’ for calculating auto-fares last year.” Kalidasan who along with his classmate from Toc H Engineering College, Kochi, and a friend from Chengannur Engineering College, set up the startup which now has 30 more members.The Village focuses on student startups from campuses and aims to include more companies. Latest technology platforms and service providers will be made available.The National Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board, the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, Technopark and MobME Wireless, a successful start-up of Technopark, are the hands behind the Village.
