Jammu: Three terrorists were killed on Sunday when the army foiled an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district. A jawan also died during the operation.
The terrorists were killed after a fierce gunbattle between the security forces and infiltrators resulting in the death of the soldier, a defence spokesman said.
A group of terrorists had entered the Indian territory from across the LoC in Doba-Nallah area of Sabjian belt of Poonch early on Sunday, he said.
The troops picked up the movement of the infiltrators through their surveillance equipments.
The army then cordoned off the area and the terrorists were asked to surrender, failing which, a heavy exchange of fire followed between them, the spokesman said.
The operation was still on when the reports last came in from the area.
