A panel of eight governors on Friday concluded its two-day deliberations on issues relating to tribal areas covered under the Fifth Schedule of the Constitution.
The panel discussed 'Budget Models' for Tribal Sub Plan (TSP) areas, land rights of Scheduled Tribes and other traditional forest dwellers, and the role of Governor as regards to the areas covered under the Fifth Schedule, according to a press release in Jaipur.
The panel will submit a report to President Pranab Mukherjee. The meet, convened by Rajasthan Governor Margaret Alva, had extensive interaction with Union Tribal Affairs and Panchayati Raj Minister V Kishore Chandra Deo on the issues.
Besides the Rajasthan Governor, the meeting was attended by Governors E S L Narasimhan (Andhra Pradesh), Shekhar Dutt (Chhattisgarh), Sankar Narayanan (Maharashtra), Kamla (Gujarat), Urmila Singh (Himachal Pradesh), Syed Ahmed (Jharkhand), and S C Jamir (Odisha).
The panel had earlier met at the Raj Bhawan in Jaipur in October.
