BANGALORE: The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has drawn a budget of Rs. 2.5 crore for the inauguration of Reach 1 of Namma Metro, for which 1,000 policemen have been deployed by the government. The budget for the inauguration of the 6.7 kilometre long line between M G Road and Byappanahalli will include the cost of the inaugural ceremony, publicity costs including advertisements and other expenses. BMRCL officials, however, had no clear response when asked about the break-up of expenses in the budget allotted for the inauguration. “The managing director has announced that BMRCL’s budget for the inauguration is Rs. 2.5 crore,” said Yashwant Chavan, Public Relations Officer, BMRCL.Tight Security for D-DaySpeaking to Express, he said that private security personnel have been hired for the inauguration day. While he did not name the agency to be deployed on October 20, he said that there will be adequate security staff to man the crowd. The city police has announced that 1,000 policemen will be deployed for the launch. Reports said the city police force has conducted a security audit to determine the number of police personnel required for the ceremony. Speaking to media, City Police Commissioner B G Jyothi Prakash Mirji said that 1,000 policemen and 12 Karnataka State Reserve Police battalion personnel will be deputed for the occasion. B Dayananda and B N S Reddy will be deputed as in-charge officers. Additionally, police teams will conduct continuous surveillance.No confirmationWith the inauguration of the Metro launch less than a week away, BMRCL still has no clarity in regard with the guest list scheduled for the inauguration ceremony. “The guest list has not been finalised yet. We can confirm the names only after the list is finalised,” Yashwant Chavan said.
