World Cup 2014: Uruguay need renewing, says Diego Forlan
Forlan believes that his team needs to be renewed after losing 0-2 to Colombia in the Round of 16 on Saturday.

Uruguay forward Diego Forlan believes that his team needs to be renewed after losing 0-2 to Colombia in the Round of 16 of the FIFA World Cup on Saturday.

The 35-year-old said that the loss was normal, logical and it should not upset anyone because the team needs reviving through getting young players, reports EFE.

Forlan added that the fans' love and appreciation is priceless and that his achievements in the World Cup were beyond his dreams.

Forlan, who replaced his banned teammate Luis Suarez, has a tally of 110 international matches with his first participation coming in the 2002 World Cup.

FIFA suspended Suarez for nine international matches after he bit Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini in Uruguay's 1-0 win in the group stage. He was also banned from participating in any football-related activity for four months.

Meanwhile, Uruguay defender Diego Godin expressed disappointment over the team's elimination but said they are leaving Brazil with their heads held high.

"I feel sad. We wanted to keep moving forward. We can leave with our heads held high. We have nothing to reproach ourselves for," the captain said.

The 28-year-old added that they tried to win but Colombia were simply the stronger team. Godin said the absence of teammate Luis Suarez affected them.

Suarez was suspended by FIFA for nine international matches after biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini during their 1-0 victory. He was also banned from participating in any football-related activity for four months. The sanction also included a fine of 100,000 Swiss francs.
