"The Roma fans insulted me but I was misunderstood," said the Italian striker.
Milan: Roma captain Francesco Totti says he will not leave the Serie A club despite admitting it had been a possibility.
Before the club's Christmas party, Totti said he had been thinking of quitting and would do so if he continued to be a target for the fans' frustrations. But Totti now says "the Roma fans insulted me but I was misunderstood. I'm staying here."
Totti had a penalty saved by Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon in Monday's 1-1 draw and he was heavily criticized by fans after the game.
The 35-year-old Italian has spent his entire career at Roma and made his debut in 1992.
Totti helped the Serie A club win the league title in 2001 and to six runner-up finishes. He also won the World Cup with Italy in 2006.
