Madrid: Spanish giants Real Madrid will compete with Chelsea and Manchester City for the Napoli forward Edinson Cavani after the Spanish club held talks with the Uruguayan's representatives on Wednesday.
Reports in Spain suggest Real had been due to speak with Cavani's agent late last month only for the discussions to be postponed while Jose Mourinho negotiated his departure.
Cavani has earlier expressed his desire to play for Mourinho but he is now aware of Madrid's interest, with the club apparently prepared to trigger the 63 million euros buy-out clause in the striker's contract.
Earlier in the week Chelsea made an offer for the striker but Napoli rejected it and reports in England suggest that they are looking to make a better offer.
