Manchester: Manchester City kept alive their title hopes in the English Premier League by beating West Bromwich Albion 3-1 on Monday night.

Goals by Pablo Zabaleta in the third minute and Sergio Aguero in the 10th built a 2-0 lead. Graham Dorrans cut the margin in half in the 16th, and Martin Demichelis scored for City in the 36th

City midfielder David Silva was carried off on a stretcher in the 69th minute after a seemingly innocuous challenge by Morgan Amalfitano. Silva's right ankle has been bothering him for a last few weeks.

City (23-6-5) have 74 points with four games left, six points behind league-leading Liverpool (25-5-5) and one point behind second-place Chelsea (23-6-6). Liverpool host Chelsea on Sunday.

West Brom (6-13-15) are 16th with 33 points, three above the relegation zone, one point ahead of Norwich (8-19-8), three in front of Cardiff (7-19-9) and Fulham (9-23-3), and four ahead of Sunderland (7-19-8).

Burnley beat Wigan 2-0 on first-half goals by Ashley Barnes and Michael Kightly to clinch promotion to the Premier League.

Relegated at the end of the 2009-10 season, Burnley (25-5-14) are assured of a top-two finish in the second-tier League Championship. First-place Leicester (28-6-9) clinched on April 5 and are returning to the top division for the first time since 2003-04.

Derby (24-11-9) and Queens Park Rangers (22-12-10) have clinched spots in the four-team promotion playoff.
