Barcelona forwards Neymar and Lionel Messi scored doubles as Barcelona romped home to a massive 6-0 win over Elche on Saturday.
Spanish defender Gerard Pique opened the scoring in the 35th minute to give Barcelona an early lead. Thereafter, the club's Argentine star Lionel Messi doubled their lead on a penalty just after half-time in the 55th minute.
Barcelona, who are No. 2 on the La Liga table, dominated the proceedings with their trademark tiki-taka football and gave no chance to their low-ranked opponents Elche to make a comeback into the game.
Brazilian starlet Neymar also joined the bandwagon, scoring two back-to-back goals in the 69th and 72nd minutes. Messi, who lost out to Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo in this year's Ballon d'Or, scored another late goal in the 88th minute before Pedro Rodriguez made it 6-0 to seal the deal at Manuel Martinez Valero.
Earlier on Saturday, Cristiano Ronaldo was sent off as leaders Real Madrid beat Cordoba 2-1 in La Liga thanks to late Gareth Bale penalty.
