New Delhi: The Nerazzurri have firmly denied claims regarding a match-fixing scandal.
Inter Milan have denied reports claiming they were involved in a match-fixing scandal towards the end of last season.
Italian newspaper Il Giornale published a report claiming a branch of the Italian justice system carried out an investigation in which Inter were alleged to have thrown away a number of matches in order to lengthen gambling odds over winning the Scudetto last term.
The Italian authority that was alleged to have made the enquiry denied the reports and the Nerazzurri have also come out to refute the claims.
A statement on the club's official website reads:
"In relation to the relaxed and misleading headline which appeared on the first page of 'Il Giornale', the report contains something that appears never to have taken place. FC Internazionale Milano would like to reiterate that this doesn't exist."
"The prosecution office of Milan also denied the claims and stated there was to be no inquest by that authority on Inter or on the 2007/08 season. The club will protect its image in every way possible."
