London: Chelsea will match Wayne Rooney's 240,000 pound-a-week wages in a five-year deal worth a staggering 60 million pounds, if the striker forces his way out of Manchester United. On Friday David Moyes defiantly told the that the striker was not for sale despite their continued questions as to whether Rooney wanted to be at Old Trafford.

Despite his certainty that Rooney would stay, his claims did little to stop speculation and now Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is all set to lodge 25 million pounds bid for the striker. It is believed that if Rooney does leave Old Trafford, United will want him to sell abroad but the question is can they resist 25 million pounds offer for a striker who has just two years of contract left in his current deal.

Earlier Jose Mourinho made no secret of his admiration of Rooney by saying, ""I think he [Rooney] is at a fantastic age for a player: maturity, big experience, still young. It's up to him and what he wants, what makes him happy. He's a little bit like me: he doesn't need one more pound in his contract. One more cup won't make a different. Be happy. Where is he happy? Where will he find more happiness to have ambition and drive him? I like him as a boy. I wish him well and hope he is happy."

Mourinho is also monitoring Luis Suarez's position at Liverpool and has asked his advisors to be kept informed about his position.
