Etxebarria found Mikel San Jose to glance in his corner kick in the 36th minute as the two connected for a second time this week. San Jose's goal from Etxebarria's free kick gave Bilbao a 1-0 win at Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Tuesday.
Etxebarria curled a free kick inside the post for Bilbao's second goal in the 90th, before Angel Lafita added suspense to stoppage time with a goal seconds later.
Ninth-place Bilbao continued their turnaround by extending their unbeaten run to six rounds.
Getafe remained in 10th place.
