UPSC Prelims 2024: Candidates With Imphal As Exam Center Can Now Switch Venue
The facility to change the exam centre will be available from April 8, 2024 to April 19, 2024.

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has issued an important advisory for candidates from Manipur, who are preparing for their UPSC Prelims Exam 2024. Candidates who initially chose Imphal as the exam venue can now switch to any of the 80 centres identified by the Commission across the country. The facility to change the exam centre will be available from April 8, 2024 to April 19, 2024. Candidates can avail this service through the UPSC website or through the toll-free helpline (1800118711) during office hours. They can also submit their requests for change of exam centre through email to [email protected] within the specified time frame. Candidates submitting a request for change of exam centre through any of the specified modes will be allotted to the venue of their preferred centre. Each candidate will receive a confirmation message about the change of exam centre on their registered mobile number.

According to the notification, the e-admit cards of these candidates along with other eligible UPSC Prelims candidates will be available for download about a week before the examination. The notification states, “The e-admit cards for these candidates will be available for downloading on the UPSC website along with other eligible candidates for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2024, about a week before the examination date.”

The Civil Services Examination (Preliminary) originally scheduled to be held on May 26, 2024, has been postponed to June 16, 2024 due to the general elections.

Last week, the UPSC informed the Delhi High Court that candidates from the hill districts of Manipur who have chosen Imphal as their examination centre can choose any of the seven centres outside the state to take the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2024 and the Indian Forest Service Preliminary Examination 2024.

The High Court was hearing a plea filed by the Zomi Students Federation seeking the setting up of examination centres with “adequate facilities” in the hill districts of Manipur to enable tribal candidates to appear in the examination scheduled for May 26. The plea also sought directions to set up examination centres at Churachandpur and Kangpokpi in Manipur and reopen the application portal to enable candidates to choose the centre of their choice.
