When education in government schools is discussed, Kendriya Vidyalaya takes the front seat in all such discussions. Considered the topmost among government schools in India, a total of 1,223 Kendriya Vidyalayas are spread across the states and Union Territories. One can check the details related to admission and fees on the official website of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan at kvsangathan.nic.in.
For enrollment in Class 1 at Kendriya Vidyalaya, a child must be a minimum of 6 years old. It is crucial for parents to thoroughly review all the admission rules before securing admission for their child in KV. Admission to Kendriya Vidyalaya, recognised as one of the top schools in the country, is a competitive process. As a result, many parents aspire for their children to commence their education there from Class 1. The combination of affordable fees and a high standard of education makes Kendriya Vidyalayas an attractive choice for many.
In contrast to the admission fees in private schools, which often amount to thousands of rupees, Kendriya Vidyalaya charges a nominal admission fee of only Rs 25. This uniform admission fee applies to every Kendriya Vidyalaya across the country, as the fee structure is standardised. Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), an autonomous institution operating under the Ministry of Education of the Central Government, is responsible for determining the fees and other financial aspects of KVs. While KVS sets guidelines, individual central schools also have some flexibility in determining their fees.
KVS admission fee is only Rs 25, while re-admission fee has been fixed at Rs 100. The monthly tuition fee of Rs 200 is charged from KVS Class 9 and 10 students. The monthly tuition fee for KVS 11th, 12th Commerce and Arts (boys) students is Rs 300 and for Science students, it is Rs 400. Students of KVS Class 1, 2 and 3 do not have to pay computer funds. Children after third class have to deposit Rs 100 in the computer fund. The computer Science fee (for Class 11, and 12 elective subjects) is Rs 150 and it is mandatory to deposit Rs 500 per month as a School Development Fund (Class 1 to 12).
