For the academic year starting in July 2024, the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IIT Gandhinagar) is currently accepting applications for its Postgraduate programme, MA in Society and Culture, to promote interdisciplinary skills and knowledge. The deadline for applying for this PG Programme is February 10, 2024.
The goal of the multidisciplinary MA in Society and Culture degree is to provide students with a broad range of skills to fill a variety of roles in a range of industries. Prof. Vikrant Jain, Head of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Gandhinagar, underlined the value of multidisciplinary education in the press release while pointing out the programme’s unique qualities. “Interdisciplinary knowledge and skills greatly enhance our ability to think innovatively and solve problems. IIT Gandhinagar’s courses are designed with this flexibility and interdisciplinary focus, broadening the educational experience,” he commented.
The MA Society and Culture curriculum will not only encourage students to develop unique perspectives on social and cultural concerns but also help them gain a better grasp of the correlations between different academic areas. Graduates of this programme can pursue a wide range of careers, including positions in academia teaching or conducting research in the fields of public policy and ecological sciences, as well as positions in the non-profit sector and in the media, communications, writing, and human resources. Furthermore, the programme provides access to PhD opportunities abroad.
Offering generous financial help and an “On-Campus Employment Opportunities” programme to MA (Society and Culture) students, IIT Gandhinagar goes above and beyond traditional support. Additionally, the institute offers travel scholarships up to Rs 60,000 to actively encourage students to present their research at international conferences abroad.
The curriculum is intended to give a wide range of research experiences, including fieldwork and ethnographic research as well as visits to historical and archaeological sites throughout Gujarat.
