The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has declared the final results of the Civil Services Exam (CSE) 2023 on April 16. Many students have won laurels in this prestigious exam including Priyanka Yadav, hailing from Pilibhit’s Rajeev Colony. She achieved the 385th rank without taking any coaching. Priyanka’s father, Jawahar Singh Yadav is a farmer and discussed in an interview how his daughter managed to crack one of the toughest exams in India.
Jawahar Singh said that his daughter completed her elementary education at Lions Bal Vidhya Mandir, Pilibhit. After completing her primary education, she moved to Kota, Rajasthan to prepare for various engineering entrance exams. Priyanka then obtained her degree in Bachelor of Technology from Jhansi and then finally went to Delhi to prepare for the UPSC examination.
Priyanka’s father further added that she settled in Delhi 3 years back to prepare for the UPSC examinations. She, however, didn’t rely on any coaching and decided to clear the exam with the help of self-studies only. She paid the expenses of her study materials and courses by earning as a tuition teacher. Despite leaving no stone unturned to crack the exam, Priyanka failed in her first two attempts. Undeterred, she tried to clear the exam again and finally, she managed to clear it with her unwavering determination.
Priyanka’s mother Saroj Yadav also talked about her daughter’s perseverance for the UPSC exam. She said that in the last three years, many events and wedding programs were organised in their family. As per Saroj, however, Priyanka remained concentrated on her goal and never took part in these programs. Saroj recalled that in these three years of preparation, her daughter had returned home only for a meagre 8 hours to collect some necessary documents.
Besides Priyanka, the other toppers are Aditya Srivastava, who has topped the exam followed by Animesh Pradhan who has secured the All Indian Rank 2. Donuru Ananya Reddy has secured rank 3. A total of 1016 have been recommended for appointment and amongst these, 347 are from the general category. While 115 are from the Economically Weaker Section, 303 are from Other Backward Classes, 165 are from Scheduled Caste and 86 are from Scheduled Tribe categories.
