The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) examination is one of the toughest examinations a student has to prepare for. Millions of ambitious aspirants take this examination but only a few can qualify it. In that regard, the News18 team had an exclusive chat with two UPSC aspirants, discussing their strategies and how they are aiming to crack the examination.
A lot of students start preparing for the UPSC examination from their graduation days and even earlier. The News18 team visited two aspirants, Pallavi and Rohit, asking them about their strategies to qualify for the examination as well as their experience so far.
Pallavi revealed that she is aiming to take the UPSC examination in 2025 and is prepping for it with a simple strategy. At the moment, she is focusing on her optional subject. According to Pallavi, if she can qualify for the prelims, then she will only get three months to prepare for the main examination. She added that she will need four months more to complete the course of her optional subject, making it a total of six months’ worth of preparation. But she would not be able to afford such time, as she has to move forward with her preparation with the subjects of general studies and current affairs. She devised this strategy to complete her optional subject course way before so that while preparing for mains, she would only need to revise it.
Rohit revealed that he has already taken the examination twice and is aware of what to prioritise while studying. He says that if your English is good, then preparing becomes easier, as good books are available in the English language.
Talking about her schedule, Pallavi said that before starting the next subject, she takes a fifteen-minute break. She begins her classes at 11 am, which ends by 5 pm. After her classes, she takes a two-and-a-half-hour break and then focuses on self-study. Rohit studies for three hours in the morning and then goes to work. After returning he rests for two and a half hours, then starts studying at 6 pm and continues till midnight.
