Gujarat Titans may have beaten Chennai Super Kings in Ahmedabad on Friday night but towards the end of their IPL 2024 meeting, the stadium was ringing with loud chants of MS Dhoni as he produced another scintillating late cameo studded with his iconic helicopter shot.
However, there was a brief security scare when Dhoni was batting in the final over of CSK’s innings at the Narendra Modi Stadium when a fan managed to enter the park to get close to the former captain.

The fan with his arm aloft, soaked in the applause as he approached Dhoni before touching his feet and hugging the Indian cricket icon before the security intervened and escorted him out of the venue.
The incident occurred when there was a review from GT for an not out LBW decision given in favour of Dhoni.
The delivery, a googly from legspinner Rashid Khan, beat Dhoni on the inside edge before crashing onto the pad. The ball-tracker agreed with the on-field umpire, predicting it to miss the stumps.
While the review was being taken, the fan found the window to invade the field triggering the security into motion.
Dhoni remained unbeaten on 26 off 11, an innings featuring a four and three sixes but CSK failed to chase down the stiff target of 232 set by the home team thanks to centuries from captain Shubman Gill (104) and Sai Sudharsan (103).
CSK finished at 196/8 with GT winning by 35 runs to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

Dhoni walked in to bat at no.8 after the dismissal of Shivam Dube (21) in the 17th over. There have been questions over the legendary Indian captain’s batting position recently with calls for him to take more responsibility and higher up.
However, a report claimed that Dhoni has a muscle tear in his leg which has impacted his mobility and in the absence of a quality backup wicketkeeper, he has no other choice but to keep playing without taking a break to recover.
