Sunrisers Hyderabad are set to feature in the playoffs of the IPL for the seventh time in their history. Led by Pat Cummins, SRH will meet Kolkata Knight Riders in Qualifier 1 on Tuesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. With the league stage witnessing a dramatic climax, SRH confirmed a top-two finish on the final day. They finished with the same points (17 points) as the third-placed Rajasthan Royals but have a superior net run-rate (+0.414).
SRH have been part of the IPL since 2013. The Hyderabad-based franchise made a roaring entry into the tournament. They reached the playoffs in their debut season but couldn’t overcome Rajasthan Royals in the Eliminator.
SRH once again secured a top-four finish in 2016. This time, they beat KKR in the Eliminator before triumphing over the now-defunct Gujarat Lions to reach the final. SRH continued the domination in the summit clash and registered an eight-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru to clinch the title.
SRH punched their ticket to the IPL final for the second time in 2018 but endured a heart-breaking eight-wicket defeat at the hands of Chennai Super Kings. SRH last time featured in the IPL playoffs in 2020 when they lost in the second qualifier to Delhi Capitals.
SRH will be eager to win their second IPL trophy this time around.
