Naveen-Ul-Haq Takes a Cheeky Dig Hinting Lack of Support After Afghanistan Beat Australia in T20 World Cup
Naveen ul Haq took to Instagram, to not just celebrate the win over former T20 World Champions, but also to remind that how Afghanistan have struggled for support during their meteoric rise, but when it comes to becoming a part of their success, there is no dearth of it.

As feisty as Naveen ul Haq is on the field, he is equally lively off it as well, especially on social media, and has always been very vocal about his thoughts. So, it does not come as a surprise that the Afghan pacer, who played a key role in his team’s win over Australia in the T20 World Cup Group 1 Super 8 stage in Arnos Vale on Saturday took to Instagram, to not just celebrate the win over former T20 World Champions, but also to remind that how Afghanistan have struggled for support during their meteoric rise, but when it comes to becoming a part of their success, there is no dearth of it.

Sharing a split image of a lone person sitting in an otherwise empty stand with the text ‘Support’ and a picture of a packed stadium with the text ‘Congratulations’, Naveen added the emoji of silence as the caption. Naveen’s reference could very well be regarding Australia forfeiting a three-match ODI series against Afghanistan scheduled in the United Arab Emirates in 2023.

Ahead of Afghanistan’s ODI World Cup 2023 match against Australia, the right-arm pacer took a dig at Australia writing in his Instagram story, “Refusing to play the bilateral series, now it will be interesting to see cricket Australia stand in the World Cup. #standards, #humanrights or 2 points”.

Afghanistan went on to lose the match with Australia scrapping through courtesy of Glenn Maxwell’s incredible double-hundred knock. However, in the T20 World Cup match earlier today, Afghanistan managed to stave off Australia to claim their first win in any format against the cricketing powerhouse. Naveen claimed 3/20 in his 4 overs. Afghanistan beat Australia by 21 runs.

WHY DID AUSTRALIA FORFEIT SERIES AGAINST AFGHANISTAN

Australia’s decision to forfeit the series was made after the Taliban announced some restrictions on women’s education and employment in the country. Before the World Cup began, Naveen expressed disappointment over Australia’s decision. After Australia refused to play the ODI series in March, Naveen pulled out of the Big Bash League. He was representing the Sydney Sixers.

The Aussies were also scheduled to play a Test match back in November 2021 but the match was abandoned as the Taliban took control of the nation in August that year.
