Babar Azam continued his rich vein of form in white-ball cricket, smashing a scintillating hundred in his third game in the ongoing Champions One Day Cup in Pakistan. He scored an unbeaten 104 off 100 balls as Stallions handed Dolphins their third defeat in three games, registering a mammoth 174-run win in Faisalabad.
India vs Bangladesh 1st Test Day 3 LIVE
After enduring an underwhelming outing in the home Test series against Bangladesh, Babar has been on run-scoring in the domestic limited-overs tournament. He began the Champions Cup with a 76-run knock against the Lions and scored 45 against Mohammad Rizwan-led Markhors. A match-winning ton on Thursday has made him the second-highest run-getter of the tournament with 225 runs.
Meanwhile, the admirers of Babar are elated and taking potshots at his critics. Not just fans but former cricketers are also slamming the Pakistan batter’s haters on social media. Former Pakistan pacer Tanvir Ahmed took a dig at several cricketers, who have been bashing Babar, stating that they make money from YouTube by bashing the Pakistan T20I skipper.
“Babar Azam scored a century and I tweeted that he has shut his critics with a wonderful knock. We know very well why they are silent. Babar ke against baat kar ke paisa kamaane kiunki poori koshish hoti hai (They slam Babar on YouTube to earn money), because they haven’t played enough cricket so they can’t speak much about the game. They keep on bashing Babar to make money from YouTube but after his hundred, they are speechless. They have nothing to say anything.
“Babar has been scoring consistently in the Champions Cup and has proved that there’s no bigger player than him. Those who speak about sacking him have seen themselves that there is no dearth of talent in Pakistan’s domestic cricket,” he added.
The netizens guessed that Tanvir slammed Ahmad Shahzad who has been bashing Babar for his failures on social media. However the former didn’t take anyone’s name in the video.
