In Tamil Nadu's Mailam Village, Statues Of PM Narendra Modi’s Mother And G Marimuthu Unveiled
Puducherry-based activist and BJP leader Vicky installed these statues in the temple of Meenakshi Sundareswarar.

Mailam, a tranquil town located near Tindivanam, Tamil Nadu, is known for its temples that promote art, spirituality and belongingness. The sacred place also has a temple dedicated to Om Vijaya Meenakshi Sundareswarar, which also serves as a centre for healing. The temple has often been in the spotlight for its religious activities. This time, it grabbed the headlines and attracted attention after a statue of the Prime Minister of India’s late mother was unveiled here, along with that of famous Indian director and actor, G Marimuthu.

In the temple of Meenakshi Sundareswarar, Puducherry-based activist and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) leader Vicky, installed the statue of Heeraben Modi, the late mother of India’s PM Narendra Modi, in the temple, at his own expense. The making of the statue serves as an example of the strong reverence and respect the local community holds for the country’s leader and his family members. The statue of G Marimuthu — who was last seen playing the role of Aadhimuthu Gunasekaran in Ethir Neechal — one of the most loved and popular Tamil soaps, was also placed.

For the inauguration of the statue, South Indian Film Producers Association President, Jaguar Thangam was invited.

As a part of the inaugural event, a special Neethma Vellvi Puja (prayer) was offered to bring peace to the departed souls whose statues were unveiled. This act emphasises the ritual of the temple’s role in inner peace and harmony. That’s not all. A sumptuous meal of around 300 people was also arranged. The entire arrangement of the event was handled by the trustees of the temple and the Adheenam Adhisankarar-Vashugi Group.

PM Narendra Modi’s mother passed away at the age of 99 at a hospital in Ahmedabad on December 30, 2022. G Marimuthu died on September 8, 2023, due to cardiac arrest. Reportedly, the actor was dubbed for a TV show when he suffered a heart attack.
