New Delhi: Cars are getting costlier but there's some good news too. Some models will sport unchanged price tags.
A new wave of price rises has hit the car market. Those who bought the dual fuel new WagonR before August 1 are happy, they have saved Rs 5,000.
The WagonR Duo is one of the seven Maruti models whose price has been raised. Prices of the Swift, WagonR petrol and Baleno Vxi are unchanged.
Maruti's move comes weeks after Hyundai raised prices by Rs 700 to Rs 26,000 on various models.
Rising freight rates and material costs are blamed for the hikes.
Ford India has also increased prices of its models from the first of August. From a Rs 3,000 price increase on the Ikon to about Rs 15,000 for the Endeavour, Ford boosted prices.
But it left the Fusion's price alone because it's going in for a face-lift, and will be out in mid-August with a new look and a new price tag.
Others in the industry are also planning to raise prices, while some decided not to.
M&M will announce a price hike soon, while GM India will take a call after launching its Chevy SRV by mid-August. Honda says it has no plans to raise prices and Fiat and Hindustan Motors say so too.
