Kolkata: Taking a dig at his detractors, M P Birla group flagship company Birla Corporation Limited Chairman R S Lodha on Tuesday reiterated that he was at the helm of affairs with full authority.
Lodha told a section of the shareholders at the company's 86th annual general meeting in Kolkata that he was not bogged down by 'pinpricks and trepidations from various quarters' and he was holding the chair with full power and authority. "I am in Birla Corporation with all authority," he said.
Recalling the vision of late M P Birla and his deceased wife Priyamvada Birla, Lodha said their mission would have to be achieved and the present leadership was competent to do that.
Lodha is entangled in a bitter legal battle with the Birla family over control of Rs 5,000-crore assets of the M P Birla group.
The Birlas have filed civil and criminal cases against Lodha in 2004 on grounds that the latter was an outsider and had no authority to take control of the group's assets.
Commenting on the company's performance, he said that Birla Corporation had registered the highest ever income during the year 2005-06.
