Chennai: Demanding the expulsion of Coco Cola and Pepsico from the country, CPI on Monday said it proposed to launch a popular movement against these soft drink majors.

"India is becoming a dumping ground for such products. We are for popular movements against all such products", CPI Tamil Nadu unit secretary D Pandian told reporters in Chennai.

He said CPI would be talking to like-minded parties and organisations so that a movement could be launched.

Claiming that their contents were different in Europe and India, he said, "They (the companies producing these drinks) should be kicked out of India".

Reacting to a remark that these companies were sponsoring sporting events, Pandian said, "Just because they are patronising sports, it does not mean we should allow poison".

What's your reaction?
