Think of some of the best luxury cars that are currently on sale around the world, and chances are, that you will end up thinking of more than one model made by Rolls-Royce, and the company’s line up in India has just become a lot more impressive. The Rolls-Royce Dawn has been launched in India at a price tag of Rs 6.25 Crore (ex-showroom price). The car is the second four-door convertible coupe by Rolls-Royce and is placed below the Drophead Coupe. Although, the company says that it is much more than a Wraith without a roof, which is true given that the Dawn features 80% unique body panels from its stable mates.
Being the successor to the 1952 Silver Dawn, the all new RR takes attention to detail to a whole new level. The roof for instance, has six layers, and can retract in just over 22 seconds even while cruising up to speeds of up to 50 km/h. The best part about it though has to be the fact that the company claims it to be so quiet while in operation, that is called a ‘Silent Ballet’
The designing is different with this one too, as it is looks a lot more aggressive and sporty as other RR models, and yet manages to have the essential Rolls-Royce features like the 2:1 wheel height to body height ratio, a long bonnet, short front overhang, a long rear overhang, an elegant tapering rear graphic and a high shoulder line. The interiors can be customised as per your requirements and come with the highest standards of materials out there. You do get a lot of car for that price as the Dawn measures 17.34 feet in length and is 6.39 feet wide. The wheelbase alone is over 10 feet in length of the 2.5 tonne car.
The grand scale continues under the bonnet too. The Rolls-Royce Dawn has a huge 48 cylinder V12 that produces a massive 563 brake horsepower and 780 Nm of torque. What all these figures mean is that the car is capable of going from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds and go all the way to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h.
The Dawn has what it takes to be the one of the most luxurious cars in India right now and will be facing competition from the likes of the Bentley Continental GT.
