Maruti Suzuki has launched the new Alto K10 in India at Rs 3.06 lakh, ex-Delhi. The new car is available in six variants and competes with the Datsun Go and Hyundai Eon.
Maruti designers have changed the design of the head lamp and the grille. The update of the Alto K10 is more in line with the design language of the 800. A thich chrome grille is flanked by wraparound headlamps. The fog lamp enclosures too are new surrounded by dark black plastic. The air dam too has grown in size. Step inside the cabin and the Alto feels premium than before.
The dashboard is done in a piano black plastic with a new audio system, steering wheel and instrument cluster. Maruti engineers claim to have increased the space in the cabin by increasing the width and height of the car.
The upholstery too has been changed to give it a premium look. Boot space though remains the same at 177 litres. There is also a driver airbag now available on the top end variants. Also amongst the new features is keyless entry, headlamp warning buzzer, gear shift indicator and front power windows.
Under the hood, the new Alto K10 retains its 1.0-litre K-Next engine in its 68PS/90Nm form. However, due to use of a remapped ECU, lighter materials and new drive by wire throttle body, the new Maruti Alto K10 claims a fuel efficiency of 24.07kmpl. This is nearly 15 per cent more than what the previous K10 used to deliver. Moreover, Maruti engineers have managed to shave 15kg from the kerb weight of the new car as well.
