Prince Harry Is Now An American Officially, Cut Ties With British Roots Amid Royal Tension
The Duke of Sussex updated his country of residence in new paperwork, stating that his “New Country/State Usually Resident” is now the US

Prince Harry has officially listed the United States as his ‘new country’ since he quit royal duties in 2020 and moved to California with wife Meghan Markle. This move appears to highlight his growing estrangement from his family.

The Duke of Sussex updated his country of residence in new paperwork, stating that his “New Country/State Usually Resident” is now America, thereby renouncing his status as a resident of Britain.

This change was revealed in documents filed with Britain’s Companies House for his eco-travel venture, Travalyst, as reported by UK-based Daily Mail.

Although the documents were filed on Wednesday, Prince Harry listed the “date of change” as June 29, 2023, the same date he and Meghan officially vacated their British residence, Frogmore Cottage. This property, gifted by the late Queen Elizabeth after their 2018 wedding, was vacated at the request of his father, King Charles.

It remains unclear if the Duke renouncing his British residency will impact any of his titles.

Despite the legal change, during a court hearing in December last year, Harry said that he still regarded the UK as his home. He expressed feeling “forced” to relocate to the US citing safety concerns.

“The UK is my home. The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at home as much as where they live at the moment in the US. That cannot happen if it’s not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil,” expressed the duke in a written statement read at a London court during his legal pursuit for taxpayer-funded police security. However, the bid was denied.

Famously dubbed as ‘Megxit’, King Charles’ youngest son, Prince Harry, relocated to the US four years ago with his wife Meghan after quitting all royal duties. They now reside in Montecito, California, with their children Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2.
