That fake call scam where fraudsters pretend to be police officers is nothing new. In fact, it’s reached a point where people now give them a run for their money with sharp and hilarious responses. This is exactly what happened with a woman who got a call from scammers pretending to be Delhi police officers, and her reaction was absolutely priceless.
It all started when the woman answered a WhatsApp call her mother had received. The caller began asking about their city, how many sons she had, and other personal details. The woman, pretending to be her mother, said she lived in Ghaziabad and had two sons in Delhi. When asked for her elder son’s name, she said it was Ravi Kumar. The scammer then claimed Ravi had been arrested with his friends. When she asked why, the call was passed to someone who claimed to be a senior officer, at the S.H.O. in Delhi.

The so-called officer said Ravi was arrested on charges of rape and demanded to know if she could vouch for her son’s innocence. He also mentioned that Ravi admitted to nothing but was arrested for being friends with the accused.

Then came the threat: Ravi and his friends would be jailed for ten years and fined Rs. 6 lakhs. But the woman’s response was legendary!
She said, “Arrest him, he did something so wrong. We didn’t teach him this. He is dead to us now.” The scammers quickly hung up the call.
Soon, the recording went viral on social media. “Never engage these scammers, not even for entertainment. Voice cloning and generating synthetic voice is easier than ever. You are giving them enough recordings for them to clone it, and call your friends or family to fraud them by impersonating you. Beware and don’t be naive,” warned one person.

Another added, “Allowing scammers to interact with you can help them collect your voice samples and speech style.. nowadays they already have access to social media profile so they can clone your tone, your face and they can use your connections in social media to exploit them in your name and identity.”
