The popular South Indian breakfast dish idli is made mostly of rice and lentils, which provide necessary proteins and carbohydrates. It is a nutritious, kid-friendly, and healthy dish. As the fermentation process used to make idli breaks down the starches and proteins, making it easier for kids to digest, it is a low-fat and cholesterol-free nutritious option for growing children.
On the other hand, it can be difficult to feed kids sometimes, especially if they prefer packaged foods like chips, chocolate, and other sweets over wholesome foods. Parents often use inventive ways to include fruits and vegetables in their diets to address this issue. Many attempts are made to get kids to eat healthily, from hiding vegetables in pasta, pizzas, or sandwiches to forming their meals into stars, moons, or other amusing shapes.
A recent Instagram video provides tips on how to get your kids to eat idli. This is Aishu Prakash’s genius technique, which she shared along with a fun recipe for pink idlis with beetroot. The video was shared on February 8 and since then it has collected nearly 7.2 million views. It also garnered more than 2 lakh likes and several comments.
The video shows how to make idlis which look like Peppa Pig, a favourite character among children. After watching the video, many people praised this one-of-a-kind creation.
The process begins with adding beetroot juice to the idli batter. The woman grabs two bowls of idli batter. In the first, a smaller amount of juice is used while in the second, a slightly larger amount of juice is mixed to produce lighter and darker shades of pink in each bowl.
Then, she pours the lighter batter into the idli mould. The eyes of Peppa Pig are then formed by arranging black cumin seeds. Following that, the darker batter is used to form the nose, and black cumin seeds are used to finish it. Once finished, the stand is placed inside the steamer, and the Peppa Pig face idlis are ready to be served to the children.
The internet is enamoured with these adorable Peppa Pig idlis, just like us. A comment on Swiggy’s official account inquired about how to obtain these idlis! “Good idea! I want to try this for my daughter,” a user wrote while another added, “I’ve never wanted anything more in my life.” “Wow, I am going to try this,” commented a third.
The woman’s inventiveness amazed everyone, but many also praised her for her patience. We can’t help but agree with the many comments on the post that praised her patience throughout the whole cooking process.
