As temperatures soar beyond 45 degrees Celsius in North India, many are escaping to the cool mountain retreats for relief. Videos of tourists flocking to hill stations have been circulating online, showcasing the rush to these destinations. A recent viral video captures a crowd of tourists at a popular spot in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. The footage has sparked criticism from online users regarding overcrowding in tourist areas.
The viral footage reveals the crowded conditions inside the Gucchupani Cave, where numerous tourists are squeezed along its narrow path. Due to the overwhelming number of visitors, movement within the cave has been restricted. Amidst the chaos, people are observed navigating through the cave’s passage in long queues.
The video was shared on Instagram by a page named Uttarakhand Wala. The caption accompanying the video read, “The viral video from Guchhupani is sparking widespread discussion. The place is buzzing with an enormous crowd.”

One user, expressing dismay, questioned, “Is the administration sleeping? Allowing such an enormous crowd in an ecologically fragile place like this . Seriously anything for money. Is that how you promote tourism?”
Another commenter suggested, “We need lockdown in every year.”
Meanwhile, a person painted a grim picture, stating, “Just imagine nature’s anger and these people being wiped out with high flow of water.”
Another commenter lamented, “Sad! No check by the administration on this reckless crowd!”
The concerns continued with comments like “There could be a possibility of rampage” and “This doesn’t even look safe gov is just waiting for some accident to happen.”
One individual simply suggested, “Just shut down this place.”
Another likened the scene to a frantic rush at the Delhi metro, quipping, “Next station Rajiv Chowk.”
A viewer pointed out, “This used to be hidden gem of Dehradun, so sad to see at this state.”
“Because places of natural beauty and calm spaces have rapidly disappeared from accross all our cities and when the few places are left, everyone wants to go there,” a person observed.
Located approximately 8 km from Dehradun’s centre in Uttarakhand, the Guchhupani Cave, also known as Robber’s Cave, is a fascinating river cave. The cave is about 600 metres long and is divided into two main parts. This natural cave, where the river flows, has become a popular tourist destination.
