Who doesn’t want a proposal in front of the Eiffel Tower? We all do. Don’t you? Don’t know about you but Olympian Justin Best, who works as a junior investment banker, made it happen after winning the gold medal as part of the men’s US rowing team at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics. Best went down on one knee to propose to his long-time girlfriend Lainey Duncan. In a video shared on Instagram, Best goes down on one knee and asks Duncan to be his forever partner against the backdrop of the Eiffel Tower.
The American athlete had a unique plan for the proposal. He brought more than 2,700 yellow roses for his lady love. Duncan, dressed in a white gown, looked stunned. In the clip, Justin Best can be heard saying, “Lainey Olivia Duncan, you are the love of my life.”
“I knew you were special. It was the first date. I said to you, ‘I wanted to go to the Olympics,’ and you, without question, said ‘Yeah, go for it’. You are stunningly beautiful. ferociously intelligent. Your kindness is bent leaps and bounds — I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love you,” the 26-year-old added.
Many people were present there to cheer for the couple. Justin Best took out a ring and told Lainey Duncan, “This is going to be the easiest question of my life. I want to spend the rest of my life with you and raise a family together. Lainey, Will you marry me?” She shared a tight hug with Best before saying “yes.”
The roses that Justin Best used in the romantic proposal had a special significance in their relationship. “Each yellow rose represents a day that you and I have been together. Obviously, we communicated through Snapchat. Our streak is 2,738 right now. So there are 2,738 yellow roses from Snapchat. Our love is truly now immortalised,” he explained.
The dreamy proposal video spread like wildfire on social media. The official account of US Rowing commented, “I’m not crying, you’re crying.”
One user said, “Netflix should make a film” on the love story of Justin Best and Lainey Duncan.
“This is so romantic,” added the person.
