Watch: Driver Cheats Death With His Quick Thinking On Hilly Road

A chilling video that shows a car narrowly preventing a collision with a truck is going viral. The undated video, which appears to be taken from the car’s dashcam, shows a car driving on a one-way road. At one point, the car slows down because there is another vehicle parked on one side of the road, which makes the road even more narrow. As the car slows down, another truck coming from the opposite side swiftly approaches the vehicle. At first, it appears that the crash is imminent but then the car driver swiftly starts driving back. Once the car creates a distance between itself and the truck both vehicles come to a halt. It appeared that the truck had some issues with the break which delayed its stoppage.

This undated video was recently shared on Instagram by a popular automobile-centric account called Anti-Automatic. The text over this video reads, “One more reason to drive manual.” In the comments, the account listed the reasons why manual gears are best for such situations and wrote, “1. Stop faster 2. Shifter into reverse quicker 3. Have a higher top-speed in reverse.” Agreeing with this, an Instagram user wrote, “Half the fun about driving is shifting gears. Manual transmissions also have cheaper maintenance.”

However, several people argued that automatic cars are better for scenarios shown in the above-mentioned video. They argued that changing gears manually takes time, whereas many advanced automatic cars have smart sensors that prevent collisions.

Making this point, an Instagram user wrote, “Not me. My old car’s reverse gear always gets stuck. I have to try a few times before getting it in. I for sure would be dead.” Another person wrote, “I would have died in my sequential manual for sure, ain’t no way I’m going through 6 gears and flipping to reverse in that timespan.” Someone else wrote, “Manuals are better overall but if that was my car I would’ve been dead cause most of the time I can’t shift into reverse right away after stopping for some reason.”
