Consuming leftover food the next day is a common practice, with many of us relishing the dishes prepared for parties or get-togethers. We often reheat these leftovers and enjoy them for breakfast, lunch, and sometimes even dinner. However, a recent viral Instagram reel featuring a woman washing naan before consuming it has taken the internet by storm.
The video, shared by content creator from Karachi, Pakistan, showcases her unconventional technique of reheating leftover naan. In the footage, the content creator is seen placing a naan under a flowing tap, allowing it to soak up water before toasting it on a tawa with oil. After generously applying oil, she heats the naan until it’s toasted to perfection, then eagerly takes a bite.

Accompanying the video, she wrote in the caption, “The leftover food tastes 10 times better than it does the night before ISTG (I swear to God) nobody can fight me on this. This is chicken Bihari boti – Mama’s special and one of my favorite dishes of hers.”
The video, which was shared on December 30, has since gone viral, amassing over 32.9 million views and igniting a flurry of reactions from social media users worldwide. While some Instagram users expressed bewilderment at the idea of ‘washing’ naan, others defended the practice, citing similar methods employed to rejuvenate stale bread in different cultures.
A user questioned, “Why would you wet the naan,” while another pondered, “Ok, but why did she wash with tap water.” An account remarked,”Washing machine me daal deti.”
Popular digital creator Yuvraj Dua also joined the conversation, asking, “Bhai dhoye kyu???”
A user wrote, “Everyone in Germany also wets their bread rolls before putting them in the oven to revive them. So the naan thing was normal. Looks delish!”
A comment read, “She did it to soften the nun because it was probably in the fridge.”
Another defended the technique, stating, “The number of people not understanding wetting the naan- no one taught you all about using a damp paper towel around bread when reheating to keep it moist? Same thing.”
What are your thoughts on the video? Will you try this method?
