The caption accompanying the video highlights that the caregivers at Elephant Hospital Campus in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura indigenously crafted a “dug-out mud pool filled daily with fresh, cool water” for her. The pool provides a “refreshing respite” to Bani amidst the sweltering summer temperatures. In the video, Bani can be seen rolling around and squirting water with her trunk on herself and those nearby.

“Additionally, the muddy bath forms a protective layer on her skin, shielding her from the sun’s rays, helping to cool her body temperature, and protecting her from insect bites,” the page added.

In the tragic incident that happened when a mother elephant and her calf were struck by a speeding train while crossing the tracks in northern India. The collision led to the death of the mother elephant while leaving baby elephant Bani paralysed and deeply traumatised. Merely nine months old at the time, Bani found herself critically injured and abandoned by her panicking herd.
