Trump's 'Eating Pets' Comment Inspires Viral Parody Song, Internet Calls It 'Chart Topper'
In the chorus, the singer sings “whoa whoa whoa” and “meow meow meow” and a husky and a cat pop up, barking and meowing in an auto-tuned voice.

A new viral parody song, inspired by a bizarre comment from former US President Donald Trump, has taken the internet by storm. Titled Eating the Cats, the song was created by South African musician Kiffness, who is known for his witty musical creations. The track features an audio clip of Trump from a rally in Springfield, Ohio, where he claimed that immigrants were eating cats and dogs. Kiffness brilliantly set Trump’s controversial remark to a catchy reggaeton beat, complete with auto-tuned meows and barks, adding a humorous twist that has captivated social media.

The song starts with an excerpt from the edited audio that features Trump saying: “They’re eating the dogs/ they’re eating the cats/ they’re eating the pets of the people who live there.”

Lead singer David Scott follows and sings while playing an electric keyboard. “People of Springfield, please don’t eat my cat/ why would you do that / eat something else”.

And he sings: “…People of Springfield, please don’t eat my dog/ here’s a catalogue of other things to eat,” then displays an A4 sheet of paper with different meals on it.

In the chorus he sings “whoa whoa whoa” and “meow meow meow” and a husky and a cat pop up, barking and meowing in an auto-tuned voice.

The Clark County SPCA, which aids Springfield’s animals, will get proceeds from the song’s streaming, according to a statement that appears at the conclusion of the music video.

So far, it has got over 6 million views on X, with one user commenting, “Kifness is a musical Buddha.”

Another user said, “I swear, it’s like a new Trump banger remix is dropping every day! This is fire!!”

“This is brilliant, esp since the proceeds are being donated to animal welfare. Well done,” said another user.

“This is gonna be a chart-topper!”, read a comment.

During the September 10 presidential debate, Trump, the Republican nominee stated, “In Springfield, they are eating the dogs. The people that came in (immigrants), they are eating the cats…They are eating the pets of people living there.”

Moderator David Muir pointed out that the city manager of Springfield has said that there are no grounds for this assertion. Trump then retaliated by referring to incidences that he had seen on television of people stating that their pets were being taken for food. Trump’s comments were brushed off by Kamala Harris as “extreme.”

Earlier, Springfield officials have told BBC Verify that there are “no credible reports or specific claims of pets being harmed, injured or abused by individuals within the immigrant community.”
