This Young Man's Stunning Catch On A Hill Will Remind You Of Suryakumar Yadav

Ever since the conclusion of the T20 World Cup, which featured Suryakumar Yadav’s gravity defying catch in the final, cricket fans have been focusing on catches that can make or break a game. Once upon a time, people focussed only on bowlers and batters, but in recent years fielding has also emerged as an equally important aspect of the game. To make a perfect catch, the fielders need to be extremely fit and intuitive about the ball’s movements. Now, a video has gone viral which shows a young man from Pakistan making an impressive catch while playing with his friends.

The undated video shows a group of young men playing cricket amid a hilly mountainous region. When the ball is shot across the makeshift playfield, a fielder runs on rocky terrain and then masterfully scales the mountain before catching the ball. The fielder’s fitness, sense of balance and quick-mindedness have now made him an unnamed star.

Faizan Lakhani, a sports journalist from Karachi, Pakistan, shared the video on X and wrote, “What a catch!” The clip soon went viral. The youth’s identity is so far not known, even though his video is circulating across social media platforms.

A user described the young man’s catch as “the greatest catch of cricketing history.”

Someone else wrote, “Excellent catch, wonderful and real treat to watch again and again.”

Another person referred to Pakistan’s controversial cricket team selections and noted, “Waste kar dete ho tum log natural talent” (You guys end up wasting natural talent.)”

A user observed, “Woww next level concentration on the ball.”

The above mentioned video comes a few weeks after Pakistani cricketer Wahab Riaz became a target of much criticism after he missed an easy catch at the World Championship of Legends match on July 6.

The incident transpired when Pakistan’s Amer Amin bowled a slow delivery to India’s Anureet Singh, who hit the ball straight into the air. Wahab Riaz was in a comfortable position to complete the catch but the ball still slipped out of his hands.

In November 2023, Wahab Riaz took the responsibilities of the chief selector of the Pakistan national cricket team. However, he was soon removed from this post in July this year. His removal came after Pakistan was eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2024 after the Group Stage.
