The video shared on Mariia Chugurova’s Instagram handle begins with Marie’s endearing approach towards a local vendor selling potatoes and onions. In her charming Russian accent, she greets the vendor politely, “Namastey Bhaiya, Sabzi bechna sikhao (Teach me how to sell vegetables).”
The vendor agrees, and the two spend the day selling produce and engaging with customers. The vendor even teaches her several phrases to attract customers, including the iconic lines from the movie Welcome: Aloo lelo, kaanda lelo. Marie’s use of these phrases not only entertains passersby but also effectively draws in customers. When a customer approaches, she greets them warmly with a smile and successfully sells them some potatoes they had handpicked.

Sharing her day’s adventures, Marie reflected on her experience, emphasizing the chaotic yet enchanting atmosphere of the market and her growing admiration for the art of bargaining. In her caption, she wrote, “Russian Kudi aate hi sabne kharida Kaanda. Namaste dosto, first of all, let me paint you a picture of my workplace. The market is a chaotic place with people rushing all around, honking cars, and the occasional cow blocking the way. It’s a symphony of chaos that I have come to love. But the funniest part has to be the bargaining game with customers.”
Marie further explained about how bargaining is a vital part of life in India. She highlighted the cultural significance of haggling, suggesting that it defines the essence of purchasing goods. In her experience selling vegetables, she described the relentless efforts of customers to negotiate lower prices. She revealed that sometimes customers try to intimidate her by speaking in English, assuming it will give them an advantage. However, she confidently stated that they underestimated her, as she is a master of the bargaining game.
