This Video Of Monkeys Attacking Boy In Mathura Is As Scary As It Gets
A man ran to the boy’s rescue and successfully shooed the monkeys away.

In a disturbing incident captured on CCTV in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, a little boy was attacked by a group of monkeys. The footage, undated, shows the boy running through the streets of the town when two monkeys leap at him, causing him to fall. Nearby women, who were walking by, got scared and did not intervene to help the kid during the incident. However, a man ran to the boy’s rescue and successfully shooed the monkeys away. The boy was seen getting up and escaping to safety.

This undated CCTV clip was shared on X by a journalist on June 13. So far it has gathered over two lakh views. The video has shined light on the growing monkey menace in temple towns where the growing population of monkeys is leading to increased attacks on people and pets.

Commenting on the video, an X user wrote, “Look at those three women who, even after seeing the monkeys attacking the child, did not come forward to save him but instead ran away. If instead of this child it had been her own child or a child of her family, would she have still run away like this?”

Another person blamed the city authorities for not managing the monkeys and wrote, “Brother, whatever you do, this is Mathura, it cannot improve, no one’s father can improve it. Mathura Municipal Corporation is a morgue, they have no concern with the problems of the city. There is no hope from the District Magistrate. It is the misfortune of Mathura and the people of Mathura have also got such a bad Municipal Corporation.”

Sharing a similar sentiment another person wrote, “Recently I visited Mathura and Vrindavan and the situation is so bad that it’s beyond imagination that such religious tourist places are not getting attention.”

The high monkey population in residential areas contributes to property damage and incidents of monkey bites. In rural areas, monkeys are blamed for crop and produce loss. Methods used to deter monkeys include scarecrows, langur cutouts (feared by monkeys), and chemical repellents like thimet granules mixed with sand.
