Sonu Nigam is perhaps one of the biggest names when it comes to playback singing in India. Nigam has sung some of the biggest hits in Bollywood, be it the soul-stirring title track of Kal Ho Naa Ho, the romantic number Suraj Hua Maddham, or the cheeky Style Mein Rehne Ka. Over the years, Nigam has amassed millions of fans across the Indian subcontinent, and now it appears he has found another fan in a newborn baby. On Friday, the singer shared a video in which he is serenading a baby who breaks into a bright smile as the singer sings the seven notes of Sargam to him.
In the video Nigam holds the baby in his arms and sings the seven classic notes of ‘Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa”. Just as Nigam sings ‘Re’ the baby starts smiling. Throughout the video the baby watches Nigam in wonder, as if enchanted by his mesmerising voice. While sharing this clip on Instagram with his 2.3 million followers, Nigam mentioned that the baby is the youngest member of his extended family. He wrote, “8th Mar’24 – And how about an extremely hardworking and pious day ending with fruits like these? Meet the youngest member of my extended family Avyaan Yadav. This is how he reacted to me when I held him for the first time and sang Sa Re Ga Ma to him. Absolutely divine.”
This video has gathered 2.1 lakh likes so far. In the comments, many people said that they would also act just like the baby if they hear Sonu Nigam singing especially to them. Making this point, an Instagram user wrote, “It’s not the baby’s fault, I have the same reaction when I hear Sonu Nigam sing.” Expressing a similar sentiment, another mentioned, “Pretty much our reaction when we hear Sonuji sing- mesmerised, full of joy, blissful, attentive and lost, all at the same time.”
An account remarked, “His eyes … this is so Divine… blessings .. blessings and blessings. As a mother .. and as a parent.. you are the happiest when a child reacts to music like this .. stay blessed little boy. Loads and loads of love.” Someone joked, “His first words are gonna be saregamapa.” An Instagram user suggested, “They should rename him as “Rishabh” as he reacted the most on that note.”
