In the age of social media, unconventional dance performances in unexpected public spaces have become a trend with individuals vying for online fame through creative videos. Recently, a viral sensation hit the internet showcases a woman boldly dancing at Kolkata airport.

Shared on Instagram by Saheli Rudra, the video, almost instantly, took the internet by storm. In the viral clip, Rudra, clad in blue jeans with a white shirt, showcases her energetic dance moves in the waiting area of the airport in Kolkata. Her performance drew amazed glances from the fellow travellers. Unfazed by the attention, Rudra continues her performance to the Bollywood song ‘Lovely’ from the film Happy New Year, directed by Farah Khan. The film featured Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Vivan Shah.

Rudra captioned the video, “Girte girte bach geyi (I almost fell).”

Since hitting the web, the video has caused quite a stir, racking up over 490,000 views and sparking a flurry of reactions in the comment section.

One user expressed their disapproval, stating, “Why why… there should be a rule not to do this nautanki (drama) in public places.”

Another commenter remarked, “After the dance, how do you handle the people who stare at you? It’s sooo embarassing.”

Injecting humour to the mix, someone quipped, “Social anxiety left the chat.”

“The flyers must be traumatized before boarding,” a comment read.

One user tagged the airport’s authority, urging, “@aaiofficial kindly look into these things and implement some strict regulations to ban these nonsense immediately…I repeat please maintain sanity for the other travellers.”

“You doing great. Public stunts aren’t everybody’s cup of tea. However, maintaining dignity and decorum in certain places is essential. By upholding standards, we not only show respect for ourselves but also create an environment where others treat us with respect,” another commenter shared.

Last month, a video capturing a woman’s impromptu dance performance to a Bollywood hit track went viral on X. The footage shows her breaking into dramatic dance moves on the song ‘Aap Ka Aana’ from the film Kurukshetra. The video is believed to be from Mumbai airport. The user while sharing the video wrote, “The virus has reached the airports.”

As the video went viral online, it drew criticism from several users who deemed the act a public nuisance. Many urged the airport authorities to take stern action against the woman.
