Luxury fashion brands are celebrated for introducing distinctive concepts in their product lines. Balenciaga, renowned for its avant-garde designs, has once again captivated the fashion world with its latest creation: a bracelet resembling a roll of clear tape. While it may seem unconventional at first glance, this accessory bears the iconic Balenciaga emblem and features adhesive, showcasing the brand’s penchant for pushing boundaries and redefining luxury.
The translucent packaging tape-inspired bracelet was unveiled earlier this month as part of Paris Fashion Week’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection. The hype astound it started when media outlet Highsnobiety posted a TikTok video and an Instagram reel featuring the item in question.
The product has stunned online users, who are ruthlessly criticising it on social media sites.
“The luxury fashion house Balenciaga has once again sparked debate with its latest accessory, a bracelet designed to resemble a roll of clear tape, complete with the brand’s logo and a hefty price tag of approximately $4,000! This is just insane,” one user commented on X (formally Twitter).

Several users chastised the brand for attempting to transform everyday household products into high-priced designer accessories.
hand up. I love on brand stuff. Balenciaga selling tape rolls and calling them either bracelets or bangles for $3k+ fits perfectly. the fashion industry remains unmatched.— The Kid (@thekidislive) March 24, 2024
There is no marketing strategy that beats brand image! The way you position your brand really speaks a lot about what you sell.
This newly released bracelet from Balenciaga would be considered a trash or just the regular tape if it were a regular business!#Balenciaga pic.twitter.com/6Z9ihVYlBo

This is not a normal roll of tape, it’s a Balenciaga bracelet which is being sold for 4400$ (approx ₹3,60,000) pic.twitter.com/AQlu4iKsYx— desi mojito (@desimojito) March 25, 2024
The item is presently not for sale on the official website. Balenciaga has yet to announce the price of the tape-inspired bracelet, but several fashion influencers have speculated that it might fetch up to $4,400 (over Rs 3 lakh).
According to The Metro, a model walked the runway during Paris Fashion Week wearing a tape-inspired bracelet from the Fall/Winter 2024 collection. She was seen in a blue outfit, mask, and bracelet. After images and videos of this luxury item were circulated, it soon drew the attention of many people and elicited a variety of startling reactions.
The luxury fashion house’s collection took on a disorganised and chaotic theme as per reports. Dust bags were used to make tops, and some styles were covered with transparent tape. According to The Independent, a lot of underwear was used to create the final design, giving outerwear a whole new meaning.
This is not the first time Balenciaga has caused a social media storm. Previously, the brand debuted a towel skirt, which shocked many people on social media.
In addition, Balenciaga previously sold a leather pouch that looked exactly like a full garbage bag for $1,790 (about Rs 1 lakh) and a Kim Kardashian-inspired handbag wrapped in bright yellow and black tape for $3,100 (approx. Rs 2 lakh).
