Jake Dryan, a British chef, has been stirring up excitement on Instagram with his newfound passion for Indian food. Known for preparing desi dishes like theplas and pakoras, Dryan’s take on Indian flavours has resonated with many and his followers can’t get enough of it. In his latest culinary adventure, Dryan prepares a traditional Dal Pakwan that has left foodies across the internet hooked. His Dal Pakwan video has become a viral sensation, racking up more than 8 lakh views in just a few days.

In this viral video, Dryan demonstrates how to make Dal Pakwan, a traditional Sindhi dish. He starts by preparing a flavourful chana dal, infused with green chili, turmeric and salt before pressure cooking it. He then rolls out puris from scratch, frying them until they turn golden brown. Once the dal is cooked, he enhances its flavour by adding tamarind water for a tangy twist. He also tops the boiled dal with raw chopped onions and coriander leaves. With a side of spiced chillies, Dryan’s Dal Pakwan is ready to win hearts for its tangy flavour.

The caption accompanying the video reads, “Dal Pakwan. For a preparation with no Tadka, this is absolutely delicious! Go try it!”

Dryan’s take on the beloved Sindhi dish has certainly won over social media, with users flocking to the comments section to share their thoughts. Here’s what people are saying:

One enthusiastic user commented, “You’re killin’ it!! Looks delicious!” while another added, “A staple at home, just dock the pakan after you roll it.. Great to see Sindhi food going global.”

“Sindhis collectively approve this and am not even a Sindhi,” joked one commenter.

Another chimed in with, “The Sindhi in me said you made the perfect attempt!” while one individual added, “Dal with tamarind, topped with chopped onions? Yes, please.”

“The only thing I wouldn’t put is onions on top; bread could be rolled thinner; hope you did put some salt and ajwain in the dough,” one user pointed out.

Another said, “Dal pakwan is my favorite dish!! Great to see you, including Sindhi recipes, most of the Indians are not aware of our delicious sindhi food.”

In a previous Instagram video, Jake Dryan treated his followers to a traditional Gujarati dish – Vagharela Bhaat. The video, much like his recent posts, was a hit with food lovers and quickly garnered over 2.5 million views.
