UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak issued a statement on Friday mentioning how Catherine had been “subjected to intense and has been unfairly treated by certain sections of the media around the world and on social media” since her abdominal surgery. Extending his support for her family, he added, “The Princess of Wales has the love and support of the whole country as she continues her recovery.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle also released a statement wishing “health and healing” for Middleton. “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the California-based couple said.

On the other hand, King Charles, who is also undergoing cancer treatment, is “proud of Catherine” for showing courage by speaking up as she did. Notably, the monarch and his daughter-in-law were both hospitalised at The London Clinic in January and remained in “closest contact with Kate throughout the past weeks,” said a Buckingham Palace spokesperson, as quoted by PEOPLE. Both King Charles and Queen Camilla will “continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time.”

Ivanka Trump also reacted to the announcement and wrote, “I am deeply saddened to hear about Princess Kate’s diagnosis. Amidst the trials she faces, her strength and grace continue to shine brightly.”
