Is 'Very Demure' The New Phrase? Here’s What It Means And Why It Is Taking The Internet By Storm
"I do a brow gel, very considerate, very approachable, very demure. Let's be mindful while at work, ladies; this is not a fashion show," Lebron says in the video.

Every now and then, a brand-new term becomes viral on social media. And all of a sudden, everyone starts to speak about it. The most recent being “very demure,” followed by “very mindful.” Joolie Lebron, a TikToker, came up with the term. She used it in a humourous video on professional beauty etiquette, advising viewers to be “demure and modest and respectful at the workplace.” Lebron embraced the joke once the video went viral, making ‘being demure’ her whole persona. Several other influencers have also jumped on to the bandwagon.

Lebrun describes her makeup looks as “very demure, very mindful” in several of her videos. In one of the videos, for example, she describes how she arrives at work. She continues talking about it by stating that she sets her hair straight and avoids wearing a lot of makeup, including winged eyeliner. “I do a brow gel, very considerate, very approachable, very demure. Let’s be mindful while at work, ladies; this is not a fashion show,” Lebron says.

What does demure mean? The knee-length skirts and cardigans worn by grandmothers are known as demure. It was expected of young, well-bred Victorian women to remain demure. Being demure means being quiet, modest and bashful. You’re more likely to encounter this term in historic dramas than in informal discourse.

Lebron has truly embraced “demurity,” as she previously described it. She has instructed us on how to behave demurely when placing food orders, getting our nails done, boarding an aircraft with demure, keeping our hair cropped to a demure length, and maintaining dental hygiene in spite of mental health issues.

What’s the main point of all of this?

Lebron typically associates the word “demure” with the adjectives “mindful,” “cutesy,” or “sweetsy.” The basic meaning of demure, which is to accomplish a lot without going overboard, is emphasised along with a hint of slyness. She also frequently employs irony when using the phrase, such as when she says she doesn’t party or drink and then cuts to film of her meandering through a hotel while inebriated slurring “very demure.”

“Your demure is what it means to you. It’s being mindful and considerate of the people around you, but also of yourself and how you present to the world,” she told CBS Mornings.
