Comedian Rohan Joshi targeted into courier scam by imposters claiming to be Delhi Customs officers. Watch viral video.

You may have heard of the viral courier scam making rounds in India, where scammers target individuals by claiming that their ID card has been used for illicit activities like drug or arms smuggling. These fraudsters often pose as Customs or police officials, forcing victims into transferring money to their accounts. Now, even comedian Rohan Joshi was targeted by this scheme. Rohan Joshi, one of the founding members of the creative agency AIB, shared an encounter with a scammer attempting the famous courier scam. However, a minor slip-up exposed it.

Joshi shared an Instagram video detailing what he dubbed the “greatest scam call.” According to him, he received a call from an individual claiming to represent the Delhi Police and Customs. The caller alleged that Joshi’s Aadhaar card had been linked to drug shipments from Delhi to Cambodia. When Joshi questioned the specific type of drugs associated with his name, there was a brief pause before the individual hesitantly mentioned “MMDA.”

This fumble was the giveaway that confirmed the scam to Joshi, as the scammer likely meant to say MDMA, not MMDA. MDMA, or 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine, is a synthetic drug commonly referred to as ecstasy or molly.

Fortunately, Joshi ended the call before any financial harm was done, keeping his bank balance intact. Soon after, viewers began commenting on the video. One user shared a similar experience, stating, “This happened to me too! My dude said MDMA very confidently, but the moment I was like do you even know what you’re talking about, chal MDMA ka full form bata. Guy panicked and hung up. Got another call a few weeks later and I just asked him if he had come prepared with what MDMA stands for this time, and I think they’ve blocked me now.”
