Gaurav Kapoor Predicts The Future Of Avocados In India And It's Too Good
Avocados are now grown in many parts of the world, including Indian states like Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra and Sikkim.

The avocado toast recipe shared on Instagram made this fruit quite popular among the people. What was once a native fruit limited to Mexico and Central America is now a trendy ingredient worldwide. In India, avocados are still considered an exotic fruit. Recently, comedian Gaurav Kapoor shared a video in which he predicted how avocados will lose their striking appeal in coming years. Kapoor said that just two years ago one had to go to high-end grocery stores to buy avocados but now one can purchase the fruits from their local fruit vendors.

He shared that the fruit would be sold in weekly street side markets. In his hilarious video, Kapoor says that the final assimilation of avocados in the Indian kitchen will come when his mother starts using them to make paratha. So far, this video has gathered over 2.3 lakh likes since it was posted on March 11. Commenting on it, an Instagram user wrote, “Honestly, Avocado is so hyped only because it is a foreign thing. Otherwise who’ll love a boiled potato in a bitter gourd skin?"

Another wrote, “I want Avacado ke parathe, chat, bedmi puri." An Instagram user admitted, “I am a mother and I already made a paratha out of it." Actor Sameera Reddy also commented on the video and wrote, “Ok I swear avocados make the softest flakiest parathas." An account remarked, “My mom sometimes can’t pronounce avocado properly so she says “avouuucoodaa" (Punjabi accent) and it’s too cute."

Earlier in February, a video from Vadodara in Gujarat went viral that showed a food cart vendor selling avocado toast for just Rs 250. The vendor prepares the toast by adding ingredients like green chutney, freshly squeezed lemon juice, finely chopped tomatoes and onions with mashed avocado. He puts this mix on toasted bread and tops it with various seeds.

Commenting on this video, a Youtube user wrote, “you know the cost of one Avocado in India…. you will realise it’s actually quite a reasonable price. For the same thing in a good restaurant, they will charge double the price."

About This Exotic Fruit:

Avocados are grown in tropical and Mediterranean climates. As of 2020, Mexico is the largest producer of avocados, contributing to 30 per cent of global harvest. Owing to their global popularity, many countries have started harvesting avocados. In India, it is grown in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Sikkim. As per the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, “the yield performance of avocado, both in tropical southern India and humid subtropical northeastern India is highly satisfactory."
