Many times, people find things from strange places that change their fortune. Sometimes these strange things can be very important. This not only makes people lucky but also becomes a topic of discussion. A similar incident happened with a doctor from the PBM Hospital in Bikaner, Rajasthan. A doctor found something precious in the storeroom of the hospital which left him astonished.

Dr Ranjan Mathur, head of the dental department at PBM Hospital, found an old dental chair in the storeroom of the hospital a few days ago. As soon as he saw the chair he realised that this was not an ordinary one. The chair that was kept there was used by dentists during the time of our independence.

Dr Ranjan immediately made an effort to restore the grand old precious chair. He then took it to a shop to repair it with his own money. Today, the chair is used by the doctor. Though the chair was lying there for more than seventy years it was fit to use.

According to hospital records, the priceless chair was purchased in 1955, and it was imported. With time, the dental department upgraded its equipment and the chair was replaced. The chair was then kept in the storeroom and was declared as scrap. The doctor’s attention saved the invaluable treasure from getting scrapped.

The old chair has many special features that can compete with today’s dental chairs. At present, the chairs that are used run on electricity. These electronic chairs stop working during a power outage. The 1955 chair works with a hydraulic pump. Due to its manual functioning, the chair runs without electricity which makes it more unique.

Dr Ranjan Mathur spent Rs 8,000 from his pocket to repair the chair. The chair was restored and was brought back to service. Old things often turn important for us and this is exactly what happened with PBM hospital. This chair came into use after more than 70 years despite modern technologies.
