‘Daylight Robbery’: Zepto Selling Dhaniya At Rs 131 Leaves Internet In Shock
A post by a Gurugram resident on social media showed the exorbitant price of dhaniya (coriander leaves) on the popular grocery delivery app Zepto.

With the rise of grocery delivery apps, shopping for essentials have become convenient, eliminating the need to step out of the house. However, a post by a Gurugram resident on social media has taken the internet by storm. He shared his astonishment at the exorbitant price of dhaniya (coriander leaves) on the popular grocery delivery app Zepto.

In a post on X, Harsh Upadhyay included a screenshot showing that 100 grams of regular coriander leaves, even after 22 per cent discount, were priced at Rs 131. Zepto also offered “Coriander Leaves Premium,” described as “aromatic” which cost even steeper at the price of Rs 141 for the same quantity.

The accompanying caption along the video read, “Dhaniya 100 gm costs you Rs 131 on Zepto.”

Since hitting the web, the post garnered significant attention online, sparking a flurry of reactions from the online users.

One user quipped, “hahaha. Everything is 4X, someone must be paying for them,” while another added, “Now no one will give Dhaniya Free! Dhaniya demands full Izzat (respect).”

A person wrote, “And they’re claiming to become bigger than D-mart!”

Someone remarked, “Ghar baith ke sab kuch chahiye to pay karna padega premium. Local vendor agar 10 rs jayda maang le to cheekh nikal jaati hai (If you want everything delivered to your doorstep, you’ll have to pay a premium. But if a local vendor asks for an extra 10 rupees, people start complaining).”

Another chimed in with, “I don’t care what you say, Dhania pudina kadipatta green chilli is free.”

A curious user pondered, “That too after offering 20% off.. Wondering who ordered it?”

Meanwhile, an individual urged, “Urging you all to pick up basics outside of these apps. Daylight robbery in the name of convenience.”

Pointing out the price difference in different cities, a person shared, “It’s just 5 Rs in tier 3 cities and 10 Rs in tier 2 cities.”

Meanwhile, a user pointed out, “But this is the same Funda as zomato… one pays for the convenience of not going out and being dragged through a manhole in the monsoon.. all zomato processes are higher than the restaurant menu.. am I missing anything.”

Another added, “It gets expensive in monsoon!!! All veggies will get expensive during this season!”

Sharing their personal experience, a commenter wrote, “Few days back, Mom asked me to order Dhaniya. Blinkit was showing 100g for 30 bucks while the market rate is ~10. Over that Delivery charge of 30 and surge of 30 since it was peak hours. And 5 bucks handling charge. So, a 10 buck item is being sold for 95 bucks!”

Harsh’s post has accumulated over 1.7 lakh views so far.
